For Wednesday, 6 February - Please bring your cover letter ready to self edit and peer edit. If you can email it to me, I can print it for marking up. If you bring it already printed out, please print it triple-spaced so there's room for marking edits. If you can bring your laptop or other device on which you compose your work, that would be great. For Monday, 11 February - Do the "Words in Context" section on page 39 and be ready to discuss "Connecting to the Topic" at the top of page 41.

January 28: Reviewed the terms from the synonym worksheet, checked sentences, and discussed vocabulary. Read Managing Unfamiliar Words, pages 28 and 29 in your textbook, and discussed the first exercise on page 30. Homework: For Wednesday, Jan. 30, will be a writing workshop. Bring your letter of introduction, outline, and laptop (if you prefer to work on a computer). For Monday, Feb. 4, please have read pages 33-36 in your textbook. Bring all of your questions to class. :-)
January 23: 1st: the Synonyms in Sentences worksheet as a team exercise. Next, the vocabulary sentences on pages 24-25 of your textbook.
Homework: For Monday, have your letters of introduction and outlines ready to work on. Also, be ready to discuss the synonyms assignments. Holly asked that you use each word from the worksheet in a sentence. Previous note: I'm out sick again today. Boohoo! Holly will meet you at the library as your substitute teacher today. I'd like you to first practice with synonyms in sentences. Then you can go over pages 28-32 in the text book.

HOMEWORK: - Locations or dates? - Write a formal letter of introduction of yourself showing interest in a dream job, volunteer position, internship, university program, etc.
January 7: Wrote thank you notes, corrected writing, and reviewed the basics for class this session. Read pages 2 - 7 in "Making Connections" for January 9.
